Q. When is the SB HOME Free Clinic open?
The clinic is open Sunday afternoons from 10 AM until 2 pm.

Yes. All the services that we provide within the clinic are completely free for all patients.

Q. Are interpreters available?
Yes. A Spanish interpreter or Spanish-speaking staff member is always available at the clinic. We also have an interpreter hotline available for patients who speak another language.

Q. Does the clinic offer referrals?
Yes. We refer patients to local, free or low-cost clinics for follow-ups on more complex medical cases and for continuing care.

Q. I am not an US citizen or legal resident. Will I still be able to use the clinic?
Yes. As long as you are over 18 years old, uninsured, and have not seen a doctor for over a year, the clinic will see you.

Q. Does the clinic offer Pap smears?
Yes. However, this service is only available on our special Women's Health Days.  If you would like a PAP smear, please make certain to specify that you would like an appointment for a Women's Health Day.  There are 4 Women's Health Days throughout the year.

Q. What can I expect at a typical visit?
During your visit, you will be able to talk about your health problems, and receive a complete check-up by medical students. You will also speak with a licensed Stony Brook physician, and a social worker. If you are interested, we will also give you information about other organizations that can help you with your specific needs.

Q. How do I get a script for my prescription refill?
In order to get a script for your prescription refill, you need to schedule an appointment with us to clinic.  We will soon be implementing a fast track appointment for patients requiring prescription refills.  These appointments will focus solely on refilling your current medications.  Any other problems will have to be addressed at a different visit.  If in need of a prescription refill, please make certain to specify this when requesting your appointment.
